My top three healthy goals for the first three months of the year are:
- walk 10,000 steps per day 5 out of 7 days per week
- exercise 4 out of 7 days of the week
- drink more water to get to 2 liters per day
I’m trying to be reasonable with my goals and expectations so that I don’t just drop everything all together because I’m not able to accomplish anything.

10,000 steps per day
This goal is going pretty well. I’m happy to say I’ve been working hard on getting up and walking around more at work and making an effort to take the longer way to get somewhere (as long as I’m not in a rush). I’m also realizing that I walk up and down a lot of stairs on the weekend and that’s a great thing.
My fitbit is really helping me with this goal. I try to check on it often during the day to see how I’m doing with meeting my goal. If I’m not on track, I’ll get up and get moving.
Exercise 4 days per week
I’m in the middle on this one. I’m often thinking about working out and trying to make the plans necessary to get it done, but too often I find that work or family responsibilities get in the way.
I’ve increased my conscious exercise for sure and I’m working on getting to more yoga and spinning classes. However, I’m having trouble making it 4 out of 7 days per week. I can often do 2 or 3 without issue but the extra days can be really difficult.
So that I can make this happen, I need to think about scheduling and how to work around all of my other commitments. If you have any ideas please let me know!
Drink more water
This is a real challenge for me as well. I thought this one would be an easy healthy goal to reach but I was wrong. I always bring my water bottle with me, but actually drinking it is the problem.
In my opinion, the solution will be turning this drinking water thing into a habit. Whenever I stand up to walk around a bit I should grab a drink as well. We’ll see how that goes
How are your healthy goals going so far? Are you meeting your expectations or reevaluating your plans? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
