I decided to start the blog in December 2015 after listening to several inspirational podcasts that made me think – hey I can do this too and share my story to help others. Since then, I’ve been slowly learning the ins and outs of blogging when I’m not working or taking care of our now five year old son R.
Our family has been through a lot in a short time. R was born with a tethered spinal cord. The whole experience has been pretty scary and we still go to yearly check ups, ultrasounds and various appointments. When he was originally diagnosed there was very little information online that wasn’t clinical in nature. I wanted to tell our story so that others who receive the same diagnosis can read about a real family going through the same thing. We are very lucky that so far R has not had any complications and is a regular, happy, healthy and rambunctious little boy.
In 2014, as I started getting back into the working world, after some routine check ups my doctors found cancer in my thyroid. I’ve had my thyroid removed and received radio active iodine treatment. The cancer is being stubborn and hasn’t fully been destroyed. Despite this reality, I’m working, taking care of our son, writing on the blog and trying to live my life with a positive attitude.
Hope you’ll join me on this journey and share some of your stories along the way! I’d love to hear from you so please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
