Maui is one of our favourite spots for a fun family vacation. The weather is beautiful, the scenery is amazing and there’s so much for kids and families to do there. Since we just got back from our most recent Maui family vacation, I want to share with you a few of the best kid friendly restaurants in Maui for your next family trip!
Best Kid Friendly Restaurants in Maui – Ka’anapali
When we visit Maui we tend to stay in Ka’anapli – it has beautiful beaches, great hotels/condo alternatives and a fun atmosphere. Since it’s a very popular area with kids and families there are a lot of family friendly places to eat in the Ka’anapali area. Here are a few of our top picks:
What could be more fun than making your own pancakes on a griddle that’s built into your table? Seriously, this place gets a top spot on our list of the best kid friendly restaurants in Maui because it is so much fun. Our son loved making his own pancakes including the toppings and syrup.
He designed happy faces and even a poke ball! If you’re in Ka’anapali you should totally visit Slappycakes and have a fun family breakfast!
Duke’s Beach House
This restaurant, in the northern part of K’anapali is named after Duke Kahanamoku a famous Hawaiian surfer and olympian. There are a few of these restaurants in Hawaii (there’s one in Waikiki as well) but the one that’s our favourite is this one in Maui.
The view from this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous especially at sunset. Not only does it have a great view but Duke’s is very kid friendly. They have a great kids menu with lots of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The “adult” menu is great as well and is full of fresh fish and delicious deserts.
Hula Grill is in the main part of Ka’anapali and is part of the Whaler’s Village shopping centre. The menu here is also filled with fresh fish and meat options. It’s a bit more expensive with most dishes ranging from $30-$45 but they have a gluten free menu which is really helpful for those with allergies.
The kid’s menu here is a bit more limited but the quality of the food is great. Plus they’re happy to help and create something for your child if you need (at least that was our experience).
Leilani’s on The Beach
Similar to Hula Grill, Leilani’s is also in Whaler’s Village. In fact, it’s right across the path. Both of these restaurants have fantastic views of the ocean.
Leilani’s has two options – a more casual bar on the ground floor where you can get casual dishes and the dining area on the second floor. The dining room is still very chill but the food is a bit more refined.
For a more relaxed outdoor eating experience go to the bar but if you’re up for something a bit nicer, the dining room is great. Both have very nice kids menus and our son was happy eating at both.
Best Kid Friendly Restaurants in Maui – Lahaina
A few miles east down the 30E highway is Lahaina, which is the largest town closest to Ka’anapali.
The main street, Front Street, has lots of different restaurant options to choose from. Front Street also has lots of shops, ice cream stores and art galleries to explore.
These are some of our top family friendly restaurant picks in Lahaina.
We found this little Italian gem on yelp! Sale Pepe is a bit off the beaten path in Lahaina but it’s so worth looking for. The food was great, the service was very friendly and they were happy to make any type of pasta our kiddo wanted.
They also have fantastic pizza and pasta for the adults in your group. This is a great place to visit if you’re looking for something different than fish.
Lahaina Fish Co
We were really lucky when we ate here as we sat out on the patio overlooking the ocean. It was so peaceful and beautiful to look out on the ocean, with the breeze passing by while enjoying a great meal.
The LFC’s kid’s menu and food were both great. My son really enjoyed his fish and chips.
Cheeseburger in Paradise
We don’t generally eat much red meat especially on vacation so we didn’t visit Cheeseburger in Paradise this time but we walked by it all the time. It’s a fun place with live music and a kid friendly atmosphere.
Also beach front on Front Street, Kimo’s is a Maui institution. When I used to visit Maui with my parents years ago we would always have dinner at Kimo’s and enjoy the fresh fish and ginormous Hula Pie.
The kid’s menu is similar to the other restaurant’s in Lahaina with a fair bit of variety, depending on what your child likes to eat.
Best Kid Friendly Restaurants in Maui – Other Areas
The Mill House
The Mill House is in Wailuku, which isn’t far from the major airport in Maui. It’s on a plantation and all of the food is fresh and farm to table. It’s a very trendy spot with lots of cool foodies enjoying dinner there. We weren’t sure what we would think but we had a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, the service is very kind and attentive and the atmosphere is unique.
Since it’s a farm to table type restaurant the menu is always changing and focused on different seasonal food.
According to Trip Advisor, The Mill House is one of the top ten restaurants on the island. As such, I would recommend making a reservation to ensure you get the date and time that works best for you.
The kid’s menu is minimal but they are happy to make the best option for your child. If you're heading to Maui soon check out this list of the best family friendly restaurants on the island for some great kid friendly restaurant suggestions. #familytravel #Hawaii #Maui Click To Tweet
Paia Fish Market
The Paia Fish Market has a few different locations in Hawaii but we visited the original location on the main street in Paia. It’s a casual spot for sure, but everything is freshly prepared and it shows.
PFM is always busy so be prepared to line up! We found splitting up our group helpful. One of us stood in line to order while the other tried to find a table since it’s a fast food type set up. We thought it might take a while to order, sit and eat but it was totally fine and well worth it.
If your child is adventurous, he/she can try one of the specialties. If your child is like our son, very picky, they make simple kids meals as well that are reasonably priced.
