When I was younger my mother would always host wonderful dinners for the Jewish holidays. She would make a variety of yummy dishes including a large turkey that had to cook in the oven for hours. Making the turkey was always a big deal. Turkeys are huge and very heavy. Not easy when you’re as petite as my mom. Turkeys also take forever to cook and it can be challenging to know exactly when the turkey is fully cooked.
Now it seems as though the tides have shifted a bit and E and I are the ones hosting big holiday dinners. I’m ok with most of the preparation. E is always a big help and I can cut loads of veggies for roasting, make large salads etc but the turkey always scares me. To take the guesswork out of making the main dish, I found a basic recipe for crockpot turkey breast. Since finding this recipe on Pinterest, I’ve spiced it up a bit and made it several times.

A few weeks ago we hosted our families for a Passover seder. We had 10 people and put together a large delicious meal. We made the slow cooker turkey breast. It’s an easy recipe, only requires a few ingredients and is a perfect set it and forget it dish.
Our guests gobbled up (excuse the pun, I just couldn’t resist) the slow cooker turkey breast and to my surprise there were absolutely no leftovers! In my opinion, that means the recipe is a winner for sure.
If you decide to make this yummy dish remember to consider the size of your slow cooker along with the size of your turkey breast to make sure it will fit!
What you’ll Need to make Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

You don’t need much for this recipe:
Ingredients to make Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
1 turkey breast (make sure it will fit into your crockpot)
1 cup of chicken stock – I’ve also used vegetable stock and it works well too
2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of garlic – I’ve used both ground and minced
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of dried mustard – I’ve made it both with and without the mustard and it’s great both ways
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
Pepper to taste
Instructions to make Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
Wash the rosemary and take the leaves off the stem.
Make the spice rub by combining the salt, garlic, paprika, mustard (if your using it) and pepper. Mix all of the spices together.
Place the turkey breast into the slow cooker.
Rub the spices all over the turkey breast including under the skin.
Add the chicken stock.
Sprinkle the fresh rosemary on top.
Set the slow cooker at low for around 6 hours or high for closer to 4. I’ve made it both ways and it works well.
When you take the slow cooker turkey breast out you’ll find it tender and falling off the bone.
Depending on the size of the turkey breast, this dish can serve 6-10 people. We had multiple side dishes and other offerings at our dinner so it served 10 people. Next time I might buy a new crockpot so I can get a bigger piece of turkey! I was really hoping to take some leftover slow cooker turkey breast for lunch the next day…
